MoTIE On a Training Workshop on Principles of Good Governance/Administration and Civil Service General Orders

On Thursday 13th July, 2017, Ministry of Trade Industry Regional Integration and Employment, Line Agencies and Departments held a One day workshop on Principles of good Governance and good Administration as wells as complaint handling procedures; and Civil Service General Orders and Code of Conduct.

The Worshop began with an opening prayer and remarks by the Deputy Permanent Secretary Admin & Finance who asked the trainee to make best use of the workshop and applied the knowled again in their respective fields of work so as to help improve the systems that are currently in place and also for efficient service delivery. His remarks were followed by presentations from the resource persons' on the two topics of the workshop.

The Second WTO Mission for the Third Trade Policy Review Of the Gambia

Third Trade Policy Review of the Gambia by The World Trade Organization (WTO) is schedule to place on the 3rd - 7th July, 2017 at the MOTIE Conference Room in Banjul Opposite Independence drive Mosque. This is a requirement under WTO Multilateral Trading System and these follows the consultations held in March by the WTO mission.

In light of this, the Ministry would like to invite your esteemed institutions to attend the follow up consultations for the Trade Policy Review of The Gambia. The Objective of these meetings to give your institution and the WTO Mission the opportunity to dialogue to fill the gaps of the Zero Draft report.

FINDINGS FROM THE ASSESSMENT OF RETURNEE MIGRANTS FROM LIBYA & NIGER JANUARY –MAY 2017 PRESENTATION BY MAMADI DAMPHA: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR EMPLOYMENT

  • January-May 2017 this year, 542 back way migrants returned from Libya and Niger
  • The number was expected to increase over the subsequent months and years. At present there are 1120 returnees from Libya alone
  • It is a known fact that most of the people who take back way do so in pursuit of economic opportunities
  • With this knowledge at the fore front, the Employment Directorate embarked on plans that can help influence policy and program to address the plight of returnees

CAPACITY BUILDING OF PRIVATE SECTOR REPRESENTATIVES TRAINING ON TRADE FACILITATION WHICH WAS ON THE 21-22 SEPTEMBER 2017, AT DJEMBE BEACH RESORT

The training started with opening prayer and introduction of the participants by Mrs. Baturu Camara-Ceesay. Assistant Director of trade /EIF Coordinator, She also did the opening remarks and emphasized about the important of the training for people to take it seriously. Moreover she noted the meaning of trade, which is the act of buying and selling or exchange of commodities within a country or between countries, and importance of the ministry because of its involvement with the outside world

Expo Astana 2017
As a Specialized Expo, Expo Astana is scheduled for duration of 3 months. The event was officially launched on 10th June 2017 extending to 10th September 2017 in City of Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. The choice over Astana, Kazakhstan as the host city for Expo 2017 is an outcome of the deliberations by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE); the organizers of World Expo during its General Assembly on 22nd November 2012 through 11th June 2014.
